Video insights
@on_todays_bake's TikTok video "Classic Maple syrup glazed donuts (only i didn’t have enough icing sugar for said glaze 😂). Im on the hunt for a krispy kreme donut recipe, but this will have to do for now😊 What i used 300 g bread flour (10.6 oz, 2 1/2cups) 180 g plain flour (6.35 oz,1 1/2cup) 7 g instant yeast (¼ oz or 2¼ tsp) 60 g sugar (⅓ cup) ½ tsp salt 2 large eggs 200–220 ml milk (¾–⅞ cup), start with 200g. Only add more if necessary 100 g unsalted butter (3.5 oz or 7 tbsp) Vegetable oil, for frying For the maple glaze 80 ml maple syrup (⅓ cup) 30 g unsalted butter (2 tbsp) 120–150 g icing sugar (1–1¼ cups) ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional) Pinch of salt Use room temperature ingredients Mix all the ingredients In a large bowl, add the bread flour, plain flour, instant yeast, sugar, salt, eggs, lukewarm milk, melted butter and vanilla extract. Mix everything with a wooden spoon until a rough dough forms. 2. Knead the dough Knead by hand for 12–15 minutes or in a stand mixer for 8–10 minutes, until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. The dough should be soft and slightly sticky. Avoid adding too much extra flour, as this can make the donuts dense. 3. Let the dough rise Cover the bowl with cling film or a clean tea towel. Leave in a warm place for 1–2 hours, or until the dough doubles in size. 4. Shape the donuts Lightly flour your work surface and gently press the air out of the dough. Roll it to approximately 1.5 cm (⅝ inch) thick. Cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter or two round cutters. Place the donuts on baking paper, cover loosely and leave to rise for another 30–45 minutes, until puffy. 5. Fry the donuts Heat vegetable oil in a deep, heavy saucepan to 170–175°C (340–350°F). Carefully fry a few donuts at a time for around 1–2 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a wire rack or kitchen paper to drain. #donuts #baking #EasyRecipe #glazeddonut #snacks" has 11,543 views, 667 likes, 7 comments, 41 shares in the public metrics captured by this index.
