Video insights

@theartcoach's TikTok video "Tapp the link in my bio to start the drawing drills course. Cross-contour hatching does two jobs at the same time: it creates value and describes 3D form. Instead of laying hatch marks flat across the drawing, allow each line to wrap around the surface of the object. As the form curves, your lines curve. As a plane changes direction, your hatching changes direction with it. This gives the viewer information about the volume and orientation of the form even before you add much detail. It’s a great drawing exercise for practicing line control, crosshatching, shading, and thinking in three dimensions at the same time. Every mark should tell you something about the surface underneath it. Shade the form while you describe the form." has 15,796 views, 1,195 likes, 10 comments, 18 shares in the public metrics captured by this index.
