Video insights

@deeploneliness_'s TikTok video "There’s something uniquely uncomfortable about watching somebody spend hours telling you how terribly your ex treated you, reassuring you that you deserved better, getting angry on your behalf, and then seeing them interact with that exact person like none of those conversations ever happened. 😭 And obviously, your friends don’t automatically have to inherit every conflict you have. If you simply don’t get along with somebody anymore, it would be unreasonable to expect everyone you know to immediately treat that person like an enemy. Mature people can be civil. Mutual friends exist. Sometimes people are going to end up in the same room and saying hello doesn’t mean anybody betrayed you. But context matters. If someone genuinely watched you get deeply hurt, heard the entire story, told you repeatedly how unacceptable the behavior was, and then suddenly becomes unusually friendly with the person responsible, it’s understandable for that to feel strange. Because now you’re wondering which version was genuine. Were they agreeing with you because you were sitting in front of them? Are they doing the exact same thing with the other person? Do their convictions change depending on who happens to be in the room? And I think that’s where the discomfort really comes from. It’s less about demanding that your friends fight your battles and more about wanting consistency in the people closest to you. If you told me privately that somebody’s behavior was awful, I shouldn’t have to watch you enthusiastically embrace that person five minutes later and wonder whether anything you say actually means anything. At the same time, loyalty doesn’t always require hostility. A good friend doesn’t need to create drama, confront your ex in public, or make every shared social situation uncomfortable just to prove they’re on your side. Sometimes loyalty is much quieter than that. It’s maintaining appropriate distance. It’s not gossiping about what you told them privately. It’s not suddenly building a friendship with somebody who seriously harmed you. It’s treating people respectfully without pretending nothing happened. There’s a massive difference between being cordial and becoming close. Your friends don’t have to hate everybody who hurt you. But if they watched somebody break your heart and then act like that person is suddenly their new best friend, you’re allowed to notice what that says about their definition of loyalty." has 18,694 views, 317 likes, 1 comments, 12 shares in the public metrics captured by this index.
