Video insights

@deeploneliness_'s TikTok video "There are definitely situations where somebody keeps their relationship suspiciously invisible because they enjoy the benefits of being taken privately while still appearing available publicly. And that’s what makes this conversation complicated, because being a private person and hiding your partner aren’t necessarily the same thing. Somebody might genuinely barely post anything. They don’t post their friends, family, meals, vacations, or every detail of their life, so naturally their relationship isn’t going to become daily content either. That’s completely different from someone who’s constantly online, posting everything they do, interacting with other women, uploading nights out, and somehow the only thing that never makes it onto their page is the person they’ve been dating for two years. 😭 At that point, it’s understandable for their partner to wonder why they’re apparently the only part of this person’s life that requires extreme privacy. Especially if they behave differently online in ways that preserve ambiguity—never mentioning they’re taken, avoiding anything that might reveal the relationship, or enjoying flirtatious attention from people who clearly believe they’re single. Sometimes the issue isn’t wanting a cute couples post. It’s wanting to know that your partner isn’t intentionally maintaining the appearance of availability. But posting isn’t proof of loyalty either. Somebody can have their girlfriend in every highlight, write the most beautiful anniversary caption imaginable, and still disrespect the relationship privately. And somebody else can have almost no relationship content online while being completely devoted in real life. Social media is evidence of what somebody chooses to display, not necessarily evidence of their character. That’s why the real question probably isn’t Does he post me? It’s Does he hide me? Do the people in his life know you exist? If another woman approaches him, does he comfortably mention that he’s in a relationship? Does he behave online like someone who’s committed even when his profile doesn’t advertise it? If you take a picture together, does he become strangely concerned that anybody might see it? 😭 Privacy protects something valuable from unnecessary public access. Secrecy protects information from being discovered. Those can look similar from the outside, but inside a relationship they usually feel very different. You don’t necessarily need your partner to broadcast you to thousands of strangers. You just shouldn’t feel like your existence is being carefully omitted so those strangers can continue believing they have a chance." has 255,272 views, 16,074 likes, 145 comments, 1,698 shares in the public metrics captured by this index.
