With that being said, I do believe that too much screen time can be detrimental to a child’s development. If I could restart my parenting journey, I’d also avoid tablets as soon and as much as possible. But it’s too late now, especially in our day and age. So instead, I want to teach my kids how to have health boundaries around screen time and how to use technology to their advantage. So we’re starting with limited screen time hours and some of those hours will be dedicated to educational screen time only. I’ve already introduced them to reading apps. Now I’m teaching them how to code with @codemonkey.com . They don’t have to become software engineers, but if they can stimulate their brains a bit while using a screen, I’m all for it.
