Next thing you know, they turn into huge outbursts when those fixations are met. So I try hard to manage her excitement and expectations without simply giving her everything she wants. I’m still learning how to navigate this with her because it feels like I have to pick between a tantrum and a spoiled kid and I don’t want either. If any other autism moms have advice, I’m all ears.
