Video insights
@mariahdhairl's TikTok video "As mothers, we have to teach our sons that doing the wrong thing and getting caught isn’t the problem. Doing the wrong thing and refusing to take accountability is. I want my son to understand that telling the truth might not always protect him from consequences, but lying, deflecting, and blaming everyone else will never make him less responsible for his actions. I want him to grow into a man who can admit when he’s wrong without getting defensive. A man who can apologize without making excuses. A man who can acknowledge that he hurt someone without turning himself into the victim. A man who can stand in the truth even when it’s uncomfortable, embarrassing, or costs him something. And I want him to have the courage to do the right thing even when it doesn’t make him look cool in front of his friends. To speak up when someone is wrong, even when it would be easier to laugh along, stay quiet, or go with the crowd. Because these lessons don’t suddenly become important when our sons become husbands, fathers, or men in positions of influence. They’re important NOW and I think that’s what a generation of parents missed when raising the current generation of men. (No shade) The little boy who learns to blame his sister for something he did, lie to avoid getting in trouble, or throw a tantrum instead of admitting he’s wrong is learning how to respond to accountability. And we have an opportunity to guide him before those habits follow him into adulthood. I don't expect my son to be perfect. I expect him to be honest. To take responsibility. To make things right when he can. And to understand that his character is revealed not by whether he makes mistakes, but by how he responds when he does. I take this extremely seriously because I'm raising someone's future husband, father, friend, and coworker. And I’ve had plenty of negative experiences with men who didn’t learn these lessons. I don’t want my son to be one of those men to anyone. #parentingjourney #raisingboys #boymom #toddlermom" has 1,509 views, 211 likes, 2 comments, 2 shares in the public metrics captured by this index.
