Video insights

@myphotojourney5's TikTok video "Why is September the 9th month if its name means "seven"? Our month names are full of hidden history. January is named after the Roman god Janus, March after Mars, May after Maia, and June after Juno. July and August were renamed to honour Julius Caesar and Augustus Caesar. But the strangest part? September, October, November and December literally mean seven, eight, nine and ten. That's because the Roman year originally started in March, not January. When January and February were moved to the front of the calendar, the old names stayed behind. Even April is a mystery. It may come from the Latin Aprilis, or perhaps from aperire, meaning "to open", like flowers opening in spring. A calendar full of gods, emperors, ancient festivals and one very confusing bit of maths. #History #RomanHistory #Etymology #WordOrigins #DidYouKnow #AncientRome #Latin #EnglishLanguage #Calendar #LearnOnTikTok #LanguageHistory #HistoryTok #Education #InterestingFacts #RobWordsStyle" has 23,178 views, 2,068 likes, 112 comments, 258 shares in the public metrics captured by this index.
