Video-Einblicke
Das TikTok-Video „From a dropped elbow to an efficient freestyle catch ↓ 1 Month • Your elbow drops underwater • You pull straight down • Your forearm doesn’t hold the water • Most of the effort goes nowhere That’s normal. You’re still learning where to place your hand. 1 Year • You start keeping a higher elbow • Sometimes you feel the water • The catch is inconsistent • You still lose pressure during the pull You begin to understand what a good catch should feel like. 500+ Hours of Practice • Stable high-elbow catch • Early forearm engagement • Strong connection with the water • Smooth shoulder and body rotation • Powerful push all the way to the hip • Efficient propulsion with less wasted effort • You can adapt your catch to different speeds and distances Technique takes time. An efficient freestyle catch is built through hundreds of hours of swimming, dryland practice, and targeted drills. It takes a lot of quality repetitions for the movement to become automatic. Every repetition matters. When you repeat an incorrect movement, your brain learns that pattern too. That’s why improving technique isn’t about swimming more- it’s about practicing the right movement consistently. If you’re struggling to do it while swimming, take one step back. • First, practice the movement standing still in the water. • If that still feels difficult, go one more step back and practice it on dryland. • Once you can do it correctly on dryland, return to standing in the water and repeat it 10–20 times. • Then swim 25 meters and try to reproduce the same movement. Don’t worry if you only get one or two good catches at first. Build from there. One correct stroke. Then two. Then five. Then ten. Over time, the correct movement becomes your default, and fewer incorrect repetitions remain.
