October In Spain… And This Is Why I Love Living Here 🇪🇸❤️ It’s the middle of October, and we’re still spending our afternoons on the beach, enjoying the sunshine and making the most of living by the Mediterranean. ☀️🌊 Nearly three years after moving our family from the UK to Spain, it’s days like these that remind me exactly why we made the decision to come here. Back in Yorkshire, October usually meant the heating was going back on, the darker evenings were creeping in, the coats were coming out and we were preparing ourselves for another long British winter. Here in Barcelona, autumn looks a little different. Yes, the mornings are getting cooler, the evenings are drawing in and we’ve had some absolutely horrendous thunderstorms and torrential rain recently. Spain certainly isn’t sunshine and blue skies every single day! But then the storms pass, the sun comes back out, and suddenly we’re back on the beach in the middle of October. And it’s not just about the weather. It’s about the lifestyle that comes with it. Spending more time outdoors, having the beach on our doorstep, the children growing up surrounded by different languages and cultures, and being able to enjoy simple family moments like these without needing to plan a holiday to do it. Of course, moving abroad comes with challenges. We’ve had plenty of those too. There’s paperwork, bureaucracy, language barriers and all the little frustrations that come with building a life in another country. But then you have an afternoon like this, watching the kids playing by the sea, and you remember what all that effort was for. This isn’t a holiday anymore. It’s our everyday life. ❤️ And that’s probably still the thing I appreciate most about our move to Spain. If you could swap a British October for an October in Spain, would you do it?
