Video insights

@plantwave's TikTok video "Bristlecone pine music 🌲 We recorded this bristlecone pine high on Wheeler Peak in Nevada's Great Basin National Park. Bristlecones are the oldest known living trees on Earth, with some reaching nearly 5,000 years old. One of the oldest ever discovered grew right here. It was called Prometheus. In 1964, a researcher was trying to study its growth rings. According to one account, his sampling tool broke inside the trunk. The Forest Service gave permission to cut the tree down, and researchers counted 4,862 rings. Prometheus was about 4,900 years old. For our recording, we attached two PlantWave sensors to a living bristlecone and used changes in its electrical resistance to make music. We chose the instrument, but the tree's electrical changes determined which notes played and when. #bristlecone #greatbasin #ancienttrees #naturesounds #plantmusic" has 35,081 views, 4,611 likes, 169 comments, 402 shares in the public metrics captured by this index.
