Video insights

@eirene_belle's TikTok video "Firm, crisp and juicy, these are the characteristics I look for when I want to choose apples suitable for apple pie, during baking without becoming mushy, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, and Braeburn. For the best flavor, mix a tart apple (like Granny Smith) with a sweeter, firm apple (like Golden Delicious or Jonagold) to achieve a balanced, complex taste. Top Apple Varieties for Pie • Granny Smith: The go-to standard; very firm, tart, and holds its shape perfectly. • Honeycrisp: Firm, crisp, and holds its shape with a balance of sweet and tart. • Pink Lady (Cripps Pink): Firm with a sweet-tart flavor, holds together well. • Braeburn: Firm, holds up well, and offers a traditional, slightly spicy, complex apple flavor. • Jonagold: A mix of Jonathan and Golden Delicious, offering a sweet-tart, aromatic flavor that holds its shape well. • Golden Delicious: Good for a sweeter, less tart pie, though it is slightly softer, it still holds shape well. • Northern Spy: An excellent, traditional, tart, and firm pie apple." has 133,080 views, 5,077 likes, 93 comments, 93 shares in the public metrics captured by this index.
