Your donation can help provide the equipment, trained teams, veterinary support and transport our partners, YIARI, need to work alongside the Indonesian authorities during this emergency. Mama Yuni was trapped with two young orangutans beside her: juvenile Yuni and tiny Pura, still an infant. For months, this family had survived in fragments of forest surrounded by farmland. Then the fires came. Their remaining forest corridor burned. Food disappeared. Their route to safety was cut off. With fires still blazing nearby, Mama Yuni and her youngsters were trapped dangerously close to human settlements. She had two young lives depending on her, but nowhere safe left to take them. A joint Ministry of Forestry team, including BKSDA West Kalimantan and Gunung Palung National Park, worked alongside our partners, YIARI, and local communities to get them to safety. After an eight-hour rescue and a further five-hour journey by land and water, Mama Yuni, Yuni and Pura were released together into the protected forests of Gunung Palung National Park. They are free now. But the fires have not stopped. Other orangutans could be losing their food, shelter and escape routes right now. Please donate today to help provide the people, equipment and resources needed to support YIARI and the Indonesian authorities in rescuing more orangutans from danger. — @int.animalrescue TikTok
