Video insights

@kistreadsbooks's TikTok video "I'm just now getting into Terry Pratchett's Discworld with the City Watch subseries and they're such damn good reads. (clip from my Best & Worst of Summer long-form vid) To elaborate on a point from the video, a good example of how Pratchett uses the Watch to explore topics like class is the Sam Vimes ‘Boots’ Theory of Socio-Economic Unfairness (from Men at Arms): "... A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that’d still be keeping his feet dry in ten years’ time, while the poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet." #discworld #fantasybooks #creatorsearchinsights #booksworthreading #BookTok" has 12,497 views, 972 likes, 51 comments, 5 shares in the public metrics captured by this index.
