Adam and I celebrated 10 years of marriage by renewing our vows, but somewhere along the way, our anniversary celebration became something even bigger: a celebration of community, friendship, family, and the village we’ve intentionally created around us. We gathered six families under one roof for what was essentially one giant family sleepover. 😂 Kids everywhere. Grown-ups everywhere. Crafts, games, hikes, campfires, s’mores, birthdays, late-night conversations, ridiculous amounts of laughter, a few tears, and the beautiful chaos that happens when people actually do life together. And somewhere in the middle of it all… we had a BLACK BEAR sighting. 🐻 Spiritually, bears are often symbols of strength, protection, grounding, family and fierce guardianship. To have one appear while we were gathered in community felt like such a beautiful reminder: there is power in the village. There is safety in belonging. We are stronger when we don’t try to do life alone. Family isn’t always just the people we are born to. Sometimes family is the people we find. The people we choose. The people who show up, grow alongside us, love our children, witness our lives and keep choosing one another. Ten years into this marriage, I think one of the greatest things Adam and I have created isn’t just a life together, it’s a life surrounded by people we love & lots of laughter.
