STOP treating numbing cream like moisturizer. ⚠️ I keep seeing people online lathering numbing cream all over their face, neck + chest before microneedling… without explaining the potential risks. 👀 💊 Numbing cream is a MEDICATION. More does NOT mean better numbing. And for me, this is personal. 🚫 I don’t use numbing cream at all. Even small amounts can cause me to experience: 🤕 Head pressure 🤕 Headache 😵‍💫 Dizziness 🤢 Nausea 🥱 Extreme tiredness + lethargy Everyone reacts differently, but people need to know reactions CAN happen. ⚠️ Possible side effects + reactions can include: ❌ Skin irritation, redness or swelling ❌ Burning, stinging or itching ❌ Headache ❌ Dizziness or lightheadedness ❌ Nausea or vomiting ❌ Drowsiness, weakness or confusion ❌ Ringing in the ears ❌ Blurred or altered vision ❌ Numbness/tingling around the mouth ❌ Metallic or unusual taste ❌ Tremors or muscle twitching 🚨 Severe toxicity can become a medical emergency and may cause: 🆘 Seizures 🆘 Difficulty breathing 🆘 Loss of consciousness 🆘 Abnormal heart rhythm 🆘 Dangerous changes in blood pressure/heart function 🆘 Rarely, methemoglobinemia with certain numbing agents, which reduces the blood’s ability to carry oxygen ⚠️ Risk can increase with: ❌ Using too much ❌ Applying over large areas ❌ Leaving it on too long ❌ Covering/occluding it ❌ Applying to irritated or broken skin ❌ Using higher-strength formulations 💗 I’m NOT saying you can’t use numbing cream. I’m saying ➡️ don’t copy someone online slathering it on without understanding what you’re using. 💊 Know the medication 📋 Know the strength ⏰ Follow the directions 🚫 More is NOT better And if someone develops severe symptoms after using numbing cream, that needs urgent medical attention.
