Gen. Agassio Akol Tong condemns Mawien Mathiang Gor’s Remarks, apologizes to Twic Mayardit and Aweil communities Gen. Agassio Akol Tong, Deputy Chairman of Awan Mourkuou Community, has condemned the remarks made by Gen. Mawien Mathiang Gor and apologized to the communities of Twic Mayardit and Aweil following what he described as abusive remarks. The remarks were made during a thanksgiving ceremony organized by the Noon-Mayomdit Community Association in Juba to celebrate the release of Hon. Kom Kom, Hon. Ayii, and Hon. Achan Agoth from detention. During the ceremony, Gen. Mawien Mathiang Gor reportedly claimed that the Awan Community had sat down and agreed to their release. He also condemned those speaking about people who remain in detention. However, Gen. Agassio Akol Tong distanced the Awan Community from the statements, emphasizing that Gen. Mawien Mathiang Gor’s remarks represented his personal views and did not reflect the position of the community. He further stressed that the Awan Community had maintained peaceful relations with its neighboring communities since its establishment and had never claimed the authority to arrest or release anyone. Gen. Akol Tong’s statement sought to clarify the community’s position and extend an apology to the Twic Mayardit and Aweil communities over the controversial remarks. — @hot_in_aweil TikTok
