Witnesses reportedly said William appeared to be jittery, and hyping himself up after having a photo taken, moments before climbing into the enclosure. Once inside, he approached five-year-old Siberian tiger Altai. Keepers reportedly fired warning shots in an attempt to scare the animal away, but William had already suffered fatal injuries from the animal. Altai will not be euthanised following the incident, and the park has remained closed.
