@_yaliah's TikTok video "If you’re trying to grow long, healthy hair, here are 6 things I personally refuse to do to mine! 1. Use a regular towel on my hair! Regular bath towels can be pretty rough on your hair, especially when it's wet and at its most fragile. The friction can cause frizz, tangles, and even breakage if you're rubbing aggressively. I always use a microfiber towel or a soft cotton T-shirt instead because they're much gentler on my strands! 2. Sleep with wet hair. Your hair is more vulnerable to damage when it's wet, so tossing and turning on your pillow can cause friction, tangles, and breakage. Plus, leaving your scalp damp for hours can create an environment that encourages yeast growth, especially if you're prone to dandruff. I always try to make sure my scalp and hair are mostly dry before bed! 3. Skip a hair mask. Hair masks are literally one of my favorite steps in my routine because they give my hair that extra conditioning it needs. Especially if you use heat, color your hair, or struggle with dryness, a good hair mask can help soften your strands, reduce frizz, and improve manageability. I personally love doing one weekly! 4. Skip clarifying shampoo. Over time, your hair can accumulate product buildup from dry shampoo, oils, styling creams, and even minerals from hard water. Regular shampoo doesn't always remove all of that buildup, which can leave your hair feeling weighed down, dull, or greasy. Clarifying shampoo gives your hair a deeper cleanse and helps it feel fresh and lightweight again. Just don't overdo it because it can be drying! 5. Not use a silk pillowcase. you're spending hours every single night with your hair rubbing against your pillowcase. Silk creates a smoother surface with less friction, which can help reduce tangles, frizz, and breakage, especially if you have curly or fragile hair. It's such a simple switch that can make a difference in how manageable your hair feels in the morning!" 6. Skip washing my scalp twice while using shampoo. I always shampoo my scalp twice because the first wash helps loosen and remove oils, sweat, and product buildup, while the second wash gives me an extra thorough cleanse. Especially when I've gone several days between wash days or used a lot of styling products, I notice that my scalp feels so much cleaner afterward. But if you wash frequently or have a dry, sensitive scalp, one shampoo can definitely be enough! #haircare #HairCareTips #healthyhair #longhair #hairgrowth" has 23,086 views, 790 likes, 12 comments, 7 shares in the public metrics captured by this index.
