3 years since I made a decision that would change my life. The transformation that followed surprised even myself. There isn’t a day that goes by that I’m not grateful I chose a healthier life. What came out of that decision was more presence, more emotional capacity, a clearer mind, deeper faith, a stronger connection to myself, and a bigger desire to push myself outside my comfort zone. The list is endless. Being sober during the most emotional season of my life, after losing my dad, has shown me just how much this decision matters. I got to experience grief in its rawest, most human form, without numbing it or escaping through alcohol. And I would choose that a million times over. It made my grief beautiful in a way I never expected. I felt every single thing I was meant to feel, even when feeling it was the much harder choice. Even in the moments when I wished I could escape. My encouragement to you is this: if there’s something holding you back from giving your life 100%, I promise you it’s worth facing the fear and making the change. It won’t always be easy, but there will be a day when you look back at the life you’ve built and feel an overwhelming amount of gratitude for the decision you made. Thank you for being here and giving me the space to share this journey, the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
