🚗1. Don’t underestimate travel times. A short distance on Google Maps can easily take twice as long because of winding roads and traffic. 🌦️ 2. The weather isn’t the same across the island. The best region to visit depends on the season. Choosing the wrong itinerary can mean rain instead of sunshine. 🛺 3. Get your International Driving Permit before you leave. It’s mandatory if you want to rent a tuk-tuk or scooter legally in Sri Lanka. 🐘 4. Not every wildlife experience is ethical. Do a bit of research before visiting animal attractions. Some of the best experiences are actually in the national parks. 📶 5. Buy a local SIM card. They’re inexpensive and make navigating, booking transport and staying connected much easier. 🌴 6. Don’t only visit the famous places. Some of our favourite beaches, waterfalls and viewpoints were places we’d never seen on social media. 🎒 7. Pack for every climate. One day you can be on a tropical beach, the next in the cool mountains around Ella or Nuwara Eliya. 💵 8. Carry some cash. Many small cafés, local restaurants and shops still prefer cash payments. 📍 9. Plan your itinerary carefully. A well-planned route will save you hours on the road and help you experience much more. ❤️ 10. Sri Lanka is incredibly diverse. Beaches, safaris, mountains, waterfalls, temples and train rides… all on one island. ✨ Knowing these things before your trip will save you time, money and plenty of unnecessary stress. — @srilankabucketlist TikTok
