Video insights

@mlivenews's TikTok video "Over the summer, Bay City resident Olivia May Marie Smith died during what should have been a routine sleepover with friends. She was only 12 years old. Olivia had complained to her mother of being bullied in the preceding days. Her mother also said police reviewed Ring camera footage of her daughter running from something before her death. Autopsy results have been finalized, showing Olivia died of a heart condition known as mitral valve prolapse. The pathologist who conducted the autopsy ruled her manner of death as natural. Olivia’s mother, Rebecca Smith, is not disputing the pathologist’s conclusion, but believes something had to have happened to trigger her daughter’s fatal medical event. Smith said that about nine days earlier, her daughter began receiving harassing and threatening text messages from another girl, not one of the girls who was hosting the sleepover. On the night of the sleepover, Olivia and her girlfriends were chased through the park by several masked individuals, her mother alleges. Deputies confirmed they have received and reviewed video footage recorded by Ring cameras, some of which depict Olivia running after having a brief interaction with another young female. No cameras captured Olivia’s collapse, however. Olivia’s autopsy report confirms no physical injuries contributed to her death.
