Video insights

@tzatchickie's TikTok video "An honest review of Solomos Winery, Zakynthos 🇬🇷🍷 Zakynthos has some wonderful local grape varieties and if you’re visiting the island, I definitely recommend doing at least one wine tasting. One thing I always do in my guides is explain why I’d choose one winery over another, because realistically you probably won’t have time to visit them all. One big advantage of Solomos Winery is its location. If you’re staying in Zakynthos Town, Tsilivi or Argassi, it’s only a short taxi ride away. Perfect if both of you want to enjoy the tasting without worrying about driving. And I have to say… the wines themselves are delicious. Especially the white wines and rosés. Very approachable, easy to drink and exactly the kind of wine I’d happily order on a sunny terrace. Now comes the honest part. A few years ago, when wine tourism wasn’t such a big thing yet, tastings here were only around €5. Today they’re €25 or €50, depending on the package. And for those prices, I personally expected more of an experience. The tasting room felt quite functional, the atmosphere wasn’t very cozy and there wasn’t a vineyard tour included. The explanations about the wines were fairly brief, and the food pairing didn’t really explain which wine matched which cheese or local product. The biggest surprise for me was that someone not drinking alcohol still had to pay €15 just to sit with us. I’ve honestly never experienced that anywhere else in Greece. Most wineries I’ve visited either allow one tasting to be shared or offer a proper alternative. That said, the staff were friendly and became much more relaxed as the tasting went on. At the end they even showed us the cellar, which was nice to see. So would I recommend the wines? Absolutely. Would I recommend the tasting? Mixed feelings. Personally, I’d almost rather buy a couple of bottles, take them to a beautiful sunset spot or my accommodation and enjoy them there. If you’re mainly looking for the best winery experience on Zakynthos, I’d personally recommend Grampsas or Callinico instead. I found both the atmosphere and the overall tasting experience stronger. Just my honest opinion after visiting wineries all over Greece and Zakynthos. 🍷🤍 #zakynthos #zakynthoswine #zakynthosthingstodo #zakynthosguide #CapCut" has 5,143 views, 98 likes, 1 comments, 20 shares in the public metrics captured by this index.
