You check in as a guest. You leave as family. I know, I know. I'm usually not a fan of all-inclusive in Greece. The food on every corner here is already fabulous and affordable, so I rarely see the point of a resort buffet. But 📍Castelli Hotel in Zakynthos is the exception, and this is already my second stay. It's small (max 150 guests), adults-only, and normally a hotel this size and this personal would never go all-inclusive. Castelli does, and it still nails that old-school Greek family hotel feeling: owners working the floor alongside their staff, not hiding behind an office door. It sits in total peace, surrounded by olive groves. Beach is a 10-minute walk, Laganas is 5 minutes if you want the nightlife, and quieter spots like Agios Sostis, Porto Koukla and Cameo Island are 10 minutes the other way. Peace when you want it, madness when you don't. Mister Spiros built this hotel himself and, at 87, is still at his spot near reception every single day from 9am to midnight. Everybody loves him, everybody ends up talking to him, and honestly you see this all over Greece: people that age staying busy keeps them going. He's the icon here. That's Philoxenia, real Greek hospitality, not the postcard version. The little touches back it up: small gifts for guests, recycled materials turned into keepsakes, water refill stations, Turtle Society volunteers coming in, Greek lessons, cooking classes, weaving workshops. The dining area is never massive, so it never feels like a cold diner hall, it still feels personal. Traditional Greek dishes are on the menu, they were one of the first hotels here with proper gluten-free and dairy-alternative options, and the food is prepared with actual care, not mass-produced. They also spend more than they need to on local sourcing: Zakynthian wine, local produce, local businesses for excursions and rentals. If a partner lets a guest down, Castelli stops sending people their way. That standard is rare. Most of the main staff have been there for years too, so whatever you ask, they've already organised it before. No question is too weird, and they actually act on guest feedback. Rooms are comfortable, pools are lovely, beds are properly comfy, and the curtains actually block the light, so you sleep well. No hotel is perfect. But this one has the real thing, and you still get all the luxury and convenience. If you're going to pick an all-inclusive in Greece, this is the one.
