If a woman loves motherhood, shes “not being real”. If a woman hates motherhood, shes “just speaking reality”. At some point we (women without children) should reject this narrative completely before we unknowingly adapt it as our own and then experience it for ourselves because the power of life and death is in the tongue. I believe there is IMMENSE power in what we speak as women, and immense power in what we accept as truth without questioning. If we abopt this negative narrative about motherhood as truth, we will walk in it. You live what you accept, you walk in what you dont push back on. Hear me, i am by NO MEANS saying that motherhood is not hard, and i am not by ANY stretch of the means suggesting that women should suppress struggle or isolate in the hardship that it brings instead of talking about it. I am simply saying that theres a place for it, and theres a way to express it. Go to Jesus first, go to your mentors, go to your sisters, speak the truth of your experience in love. Ask for prayer, and be determined not to let your bad day turn motherhood into a bad experience in totality. Im saying that as a woman who is so excited about being a mom, seeing other women talk about motherhood as the worst experience of their lives places a feeling of impending doom on what is supposed to be one of the biggest blessings of your life. I will not accept it as truth, but i know that SO many women do. I KNOW that there are women out there who simply LOVE motherhood, who notice its hardships, yet meditate on its blessings. Who speak life over their children, who speak life into younger women who are praying for, or are expecting children. And not as a cover up, but as a genuine expression of their beloved reality. I personally, would love to hear from those women more. More videos, more conversations, more encouragement.
