@hiphopofthe90sのTikTok動画「Vanilla Ice’s “it’s not the same” explanation is still hilarious 😭🔥 The bassline comes from “Under Pressure,” Queen and David Bowie’s 1981 collaboration. DJ Earthquake helped build “Ice Ice Baby” around that riff, turning a familiar rock bassline into the foundation of a rap hit. Ice acknowledged sampling the song. His explanation focused on an extra “ding,” which he said made his bassline different. “Ice Ice Baby” originally appeared as the B-side to Vanilla Ice’s version of Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music.” It was the track on the flip side of the single. DJs started playing it, listeners began requesting it, and attention shifted to the song that had initially taken second billing. In 1990, “Ice Ice Baby” became the first hip-hop single to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. That original B-side became the song Vanilla Ice would be best known for. All four members of Queen and Bowie later received songwriting credits on “Ice Ice Baby.” Years later, Ice described his famous extra “ding” explanation as a joke. When that bassline starts, are you hearing “Under Pressure” or “Ice Ice Baby”?
