One of my absolute favorite nights of the year in St. Augustine, Florida, is the Regatta of Lights! On December 12, 2026, the St. Augustine Regatta of Lights brings Christmas magic to the water as beautifully decorated boats sail along the historic bayfront, lighting up Matanzas Bay from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. If you’re planning to experience this incredible St. Augustine Christmas tradition, here are a few tips! Arrive downtown early! Traffic and parking can get busy, especially during popular Nights of Lights events. Give yourself plenty of time to find parking and grab a good viewing spot along the bayfront. Check the weather before you go! Even in Florida, December evenings can get chilly, especially near the water. Bring a light jacket just in case. And most importantly, slow down and enjoy the magic! Can’t make the Regatta of Lights? Don’t worry! St. Augustine’s famous Nights of Lights runs November 21, 2026, through January 18, 2027. Millions of twinkling white lights transform America’s Oldest City into one of the most magical Christmas destinations in Florida. Want to experience Nights of Lights with fewer crowds? Consider visiting on a weeknight or after January 2, when the holiday rush typically starts to slow down. Planning your St. Augustine Christmas getaway?
