Approfondimenti sul video

Il video TikTok «Everyone books a boat tour to try and spot Caretta Caretta on Zakynthos, but you might not need a boat at all 🐢 Agios Sostis has a long history with Loggerhead turtles. Some are resident in Laganas Bay and have been documented foraging around the harbour for years. Fishing harbours can naturally attract turtles because fishermen discard unwanted fish or scraps while cleaning their nets, which turtles may opportunistically eat. But that’s different from deliberately and repeatedly feeding them. And that’s where things get complicated in Agios Sostis today. A local fisherman currently feeds the turtles here deliberately. While it might look harmless, feeding wild Caretta Caretta is not allowed and conservation organisation ARCHELON strongly discourages it. Turtles can start associating people and boats with food, changing their natural behaviour and potentially making them less likely to avoid boats. ARCHELON has documented the consequences of this in Laganas Bay before. Achilles, a resident male frequently seen around Agios Sostis, became accustomed to human interaction and boats and was eventually killed in a boat collision. So please don’t feed, touch or approach the turtles, even if you see someone else doing it. There is, however, another side to this spot. If a turtle happens to be in the harbour, quietly watching it from the pier allows you to experience these incredible animals without entering the water or actively following them. That can be particularly valuable in Laganas Bay, where large numbers of turtle-spotting boats can put additional pressure on the animals when observation rules aren’t respected. So if you’re lucky enough to see one here, enjoy it from a distance and let it be a wild turtle 🐢 Agios Sostis is also a great base for exploring the area, with boats leaving for Marathonisi and the Keri Caves. Full breakdown of where and when to spot Caretta Caretta, the story behind this spot and the rules for seeing them responsibly is in my Zakynthos guide 🐢📍 #Zakynthos #ZakynthosGreece #CarettaCaretta #CapCut» di @tzatchickie ha totalizzato 23.548 visualizzazioni, 675 like, 11 commenti, 230 condivisioni nelle metriche pubbliche rilevate da questo indice.
