Video-Einblicke

Das TikTok-Video „Meet the MOST venomous primate in the world. Well... technically also the least venomous. Because slow lorises are the only known venomous primates on Earth And six of them have just gone back to the wild. The release was carried out through a joint effort between BBKSDA West Java, Ujung Kulon National Park Authority (BTNUK) and our partners YIARI, bringing together government wildlife authorities, national park teams and conservation specialists to return these animals to their natural habitat. Eid, Durga, Buzz, Faki, Olivec and Hormuz are Critically Endangered Javan slow lorises who have spent months being treated, rehabilitated and assessed before reaching this point. And the venom thing is pretty wild. Slow lorises have a specialized gland on their upper arm. When threatened, they can lick the secretion from it, mix it with their saliva and deliver venom through a bite. So yeah. Very cute. Very much not a pet. They're wild animals with complex needs, and the illegal wildlife trade remains one of the threats facing Javan slow lorises. Eid and Hormuz had an especially rough journey. Both arrived in care with injuries caused by electrocution, but after treatment and rehabilitation, they recovered. Before release, all six went through quarantine, health checks, behavioral observations, natural food introduction and time in pre-release enclosures. Most importantly, they were healthy and displaying the natural behaviors they would need to survive independently in the wild. The release site wasn't picked at random either. BTNUK and YIARI teams checked the vegetation, food sources, threats and whether wild Javan slow lorises were already living there. After a few days getting used to their new surroundings in habituation enclosures, the doors were opened at night. One by one, they left on their own and headed into the forest, right where they belong!“ von @int.animalrescue kommt laut den von diesem Index erfassten öffentlichen Kennzahlen auf 37.311 Aufrufe, 820 Likes, 7 Kommentare, 32 Shares.
